Amanda Auksaq was born in 1988 in Iqaluit, Nunavut and now lives in Igloolik, Nunavut, in the Ammituq area. She is the daughter of Inuit Artist George Auksaq. Amanda's late grandmother was also an artist and she has many family members who are Inuit artists.
Amanda began carving in 2007. She learned how to carve from Ross Kayotak. Her favourite artists are Ross and her father "I like what they're making and I know Ross is popular at his carving".
She carves primarily in caribou antler but also likes to use ivory. Along with carving Amanda also likes to fish.
